I’m not really one to judge someone too harshly. Sure, I might hate someone or something for a while, but I get bored of it in a while and may or may not wind up Facebook friends. Hell, you know, when it comes to serial killers, I figure some people collect stamps, and some people collect left feet.
Same comes to people’s ideas. When people start talking to me, I have a nasty tendency to agree with them. Even when someone with the entirely opposite view just spent a few hours talking at me about whatever they feel strongly about. It’s not that I’m gullible or that I’ll walk away from Mr. Cares-a-lot having been transformed into a True Believer, it’s that I see their point. I’m willing to argue that means I’m a downright genius.
I’m also willing to argue Japan doesn’t really exist.
Anyways, point is, when I get the opportunity, I like being talked at by an extremely strongly opinionated individual. This is partially because I’m usually the one talking at people, and it’s nice to see how they feel, but mostly because, like I mentioned before, I tend to agree with them. What happens then is that I am overtaken, nigh, consumed by their opinion. This is a fun state to be in. Try it sometime, stepping out of your own opinions.
It’s important to have alternative viewpoints on things. If you walk through life with a single filter on the world, be that your religion, your political party, or the firmly held belief that the French never shave their armpits, you only get that small fraction of the world. Your decisions are one dimensional. The French feel left out.
So step into someone else’s ideas for a bit. It’s good for ya. Working out, however, isn’t. That shit hurts, man.
