Today’s Diety: Lono!
Ah, Lono. As far as I can tell, he is the god of the following:
-Rain
-Agriculture
-Peace
-Fertility
Not to mention lightening, earthquakes, rainbows, waterspouts, clouds, gushing mountain springs (always a classic), and games. He’s also tied in somehow (don’t quite remember) with lua, the traditional Hawaiian martial art. By and by, that’s an excellent book.
In the Hawaiian culture, Lono was one of four gods that were kickin’ back before the whole world thing was created. As such, he’s pretty important. They had an annual festival over there for him during which all unnecessary work and war were called off for a bit so they could have a big ole’ Lono Luau. Good times.
Why he looks cool: Well, first off, he’s got that classic tiki-doll look goin’ for him, which is always nifty. You could just line your shelves with that stuff, or make a very nice tiki bar. But Lono in particular has that sweet headdress, which apparently is very heavy by the grimace on his face. Which just makes him all the cooler. Where’d his eyes go?
